HIV & STI Testing

What is HIV & STI Testing?

HIV and STI testing is the process of checking whether you have contracted the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) or a sexually transmitted infection (STI). Testing allows you to know your status early, take care of your health, and prevent further transmission.

Why is it important?

Regular testing is one of the most effective ways to maintain your sexual health. Many STIs, including HIV, can remain asymptomatic for a long time. Knowing your status gives you peace of mind, helps you access timely treatment, and reduces the risk of complications. It also helps protect your partners and contributes to a healthier community.

What kind of testing is available at CAEC?

• HIV Rapid Testing
• Syphilis Rapid Testing
• Hepatitis C Rapid Testing

How does the test work?

Rapid tests are simple and painless. A small finger-prick blood sample is taken, and results are available within 20 minutes. Before testing, our counsellors provide pre-test counselling to answer your questions and prepare you. After testing, post-test counselling is offered to explain your results, discuss next steps, and provide emotional support.
