On Saturday, 13 June 2026, hundreds of people gathered in Rose Hill for the 21st edition of
Mauritius Pride March. Organised by Collectif Arc-En-Ciel (CAEC) in collaboration with
Young Queer Alliance, RekonekT, Gender Links, PILS, and other partners, the event once again
highlighted the strength, resilience, and solidarity of the LGBTQIA+ community and its allies.
Held under the theme “Ansam, Nou Pli For” (Together, We Are Stronger), Pride 2026
celebrated diversity while reaffirming the importance of collective action in the ongoing fight for
equality, dignity, and human rights. More than a celebration, Pride remains a powerful platform
for visibility, advocacy, and community empowerment.
The day began at the Plaza in Rose Hill with a vibrant Pride Village featuring community
organisations, local entrepreneurs, artists, and allies. Participants had the opportunity to connect
with organisations providing support services, discover community-led initiatives, and engage in
meaningful conversations about inclusion, diversity, and social justice.
As the march moved through the streets of Rose Hill, participants proudly carried rainbow flags,
banners, and messages of hope and equality. Families, friends, activists, community members,
and allies walked side by side in a demonstration of solidarity and support for a Mauritius where
everyone can live freely and authentically, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity,
or gender expression.
Pride 2026 also served as an important reminder that while progress has been made in advancing
LGBTQIA+ rights in Mauritius, significant challenges remain. Discrimination, stigma, hate
speech, and violence continue to affect many members of our community. The march therefore
stood not only as a celebration of how far we have come, but also as a call to continue working
towards a more inclusive and equitable society.
Throughout the day, attendees enjoyed artistic performances, community activities, and moments
of reflection that showcased the creativity, diversity, and resilience of the LGBTQIA+
community. The atmosphere was one of joy, unity, and hope, demonstrating the power of
collective action and community solidarity.
Collectif Arc-En-Ciel extends its heartfelt gratitude to every donors, volunteer, partner
organisation, artist, supporter, media representative, and participant who contributed to making
Pride March 2026 a success. Your presence, commitment, and solidarity helped create a space
where LGBTQIA+ people could be seen, heard, and celebrated.
As we move forward, we remain committed to building a Mauritius where every person can
enjoy equal rights, opportunities, and respect. Pride is not only a day of celebration, it is a
reminder that our collective voice is stronger when we stand together.
Ansam, Nou Pli For. Together, We Are Stronger.
