Job Title: Outreach worker (Full Time)

Job Duration: 6 months (renewable)

Reports to: Outreach coordinator

Starting Date: January 2016

In general

Collectif Arc-En-Ciel (CAEC), a non-profit NGO fight against homophobia and discrimination based on sexual orientation is looking for motivated, dynamics and passionate people for its prevention program.

* Responsible to deliver HIV prevention to Men having sex with Men (MSM) and/or Transgender people (TGs);
* Supervise outreach work as per area assigned
* Assist in the design and implementation of new strategies for the improvement of projects (Field and digital)
* Assist in identifying new sites and strategies of intervention to be included in the projects
* The OW will work closely with OW coordinator and peer educators

Job Description :

Field and Digital :

Field : intervene on the field towards MSM/TGs to deliver the following package to each person met:
* Educate MSM and TG upon the use of condoms and lubricant with the opportunity to obtain female condoms upon request
* Promote HIV testing by referring to testing facilities
* Provide information on STIs, HIV and risks associated to unprotected sexual intercourse
In the case the beneficiary lives with HIV, refer him/her to appropriate health services
Organize prevention sessions according to strategic data (location, time, etc.)
Collect field data from the PE’s
Conduct prevention sessions on digital (website, social networks)
Define strategies to improve the prevention and outreach services in the digital
Assist in the development of strategies in collaboration with the outreach team to meet new networks of MSM and TGs

Stock Procurement and management :

Ensure the follow up of ad-hoc field projects linked with materials distribution or placement

Training :

Training of peer educators
Ongoing training of current peer educators
Schedule and organize trainings (materials, logistics, place, etc.)

Programs/ Site Visit :

Accompany PEs on a weekly basis

Support :

Organize support in the health services of the beneficiaries and develop a database for monitoring and evaluation with the OW coordinator
Inform the Outreach coordinator of each situation
Update personal files for beneficiaries’ follow up

Writing of Reports :

Write reports according to needs of CAEC

Qualifications and Requirements :

● Commitment to HIV/AIDS and health systems strengthening.
●    Easy contact and communication with KAP’s and the public in general
●    Possess an empathetic and caring attitude towards beneficiaries
●    Be non-judgemental and supportive
●    Ability to network with key informants from the community
●    Be comfortable working with clients who are often marginalised and stigmatised
●    Able to exercise flexibility in their tasks
●    Able to cope with unfamiliar situations
●    Able to work irregular hours when needed
●    Relevant field experience
●    Strong commitment to HIV/Aids response  in Mauritius
● Being a good team player
